WHO WE ARE

The Hobby Shop is born out of the well-known and established Model Railroad Specialists hobby shop which was established in 1984 by the late Michael Trow, who was a very well-known member of the model fraternity.

Our shop is a long-established landmark on the Main Road in Plumstead, Cape Town.

Our 35 years worth of experience allows us to provide solid, reliable service to our many customers over a wide range of modelling disciplines.
The shop had its humble beginnings in Port Elizabeth in the 1970’s, then known as Blue Train Models.
The shop then moved to Tokai in Cape Town and then finally to Main Road, Plumstead.

The change of name of the shop to The Hobby Shop is to accentuate the wide range of hobby products and disciplines provided for by the shop.

We are direct importers of almost 90% of the brands stocked in the shop, thereby allowing us a greater opportunity to source the products that you are looking for.
We have recently started an in-store loyalty card programme and we invite you to visit us in-store to take full advantage of this.
